StarVista’s Youth Development Initiative (YDI) program promotes and advocates the healthy development of youth in the community.
The programs and practices of YDI originated from the growing sentiment that healthy young people do more than just stay out of trouble. When youth are at their best, they also make responsible choices, do better in school, and have a more positive view of the world around them. YDI and its youth members work to promote the adult involvement that is essential to encouraging more youth to truly succeed.
“Be The Difference” Youth Development Campaign: In this countywide project, youth encourage adults to build valuable connections with younger members of their communities.
Hoover Middle School Family Resource Center: The onsite YDI Coordinator supports youth on the student council by helping them choose programs they want to see implemented on their school campus.
Sequoia High School Teen Resource Center: The facility features youth development programs that include peer education and a Youth Advisory Board.
