StarVista’s Inaugural Fundraising Event, Changing Lives

StarVista to host historic virtual event celebrating the growth, evolution, and achievements of its programs.
Thursday, October 29, 2020.

San Carlos, CA October 20, 2020 – StarVista, a San Mateo County-based nonprofit that delivers high impact services through counseling, skill development, and crisis prevention, will host its inaugural fundraising event, Changing Lives, on Thursday, October 29th, 2020. This year, StarVista will hold the event virtually for the health and safety of others during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Changing Lives will feature Honorable Congresswoman Jackie Speier, San Mateo County Superintendent Nancy Magee, StarVista’s CEO – Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP, Eric Wollman – Retired Chief of Police and current Board Member, and the many clients StarVista is honored to serve. Register today at www.star-vista.org/changing-lives/.

“At StarVista, we create opportunities for people to make changes leading to the life they envision for themselves,” said StarVista CEO Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP. “While some of today’s challenges are new, requiring new and different approaches, our commitment to serving people from all walks of life, in the form of counseling, skill development, and crisis intervention and prevention, remains strong.”

In previous years, StarVista held multiple fundraising events, including its annual Starting Line Breakfast and Taste of the Peninsula events. Starting this year, StarVista is combining its two annual fundraising events into this single fundraiser – Changing Lives. Changing Lives will demonstrate how StarVista helps children, youth, adults, and families navigate life’s challenges by empowering individuals, inspiring hope, and strengthening communities.

In addition to Changing Lives, StarVista is also celebrating its Daybreak program’s 30th anniversary. Daybreak is a housing and independent living skills training program for homeless youth ages 16-21.

“I am continually amazed at the incredible work StarVista performs, as well as the number of people it serves throughout the region,” said Chief Ed Barberini, San Mateo Police Department, and StarVista Board member. “StarVista truly strengthens our communities by serving those who are in need with a focus on empowering individuals to achieve long term, sustainable success. I am humbled and honored to be associated with such an outstanding organization.”

The event’s leading sponsors are Stanford Health Care, SolMateo, and Danford Fisher Hannig Foundation.

Join StarVista to connect with fellow local business, community, and political leaders who are committed to providing hope that helps and heals, and learn about the roles StarVista staff, donors, partners, and supporters play in keeping the communities we live in healthy, vibrant, and strong.
