Celebrating our Incredible Interns and StarVista’s Training Program during National Internship Awareness Month

April is National Internship Awareness Month, a time to celebrate our incredible interns for their time, dedication, and support in providing mental health services to all ages.

StarVista’s Training Program Coordinator, Jenn Sheridan, at a training program outreach event.

Every year, StarVista recruits nearly 30 trainees for its Training Program.

These trainees/interns get the opportunity to work directly with the community through 8 to 10 of StarVista’s high-impact mental health programs. They are passionate about making a difference in the mental health and social services field, and our unique program is their gateway to professional growth and hands-on experience in a variety of impactful programs.

Our trainees, associates, and post-doctoral interns come from diverse backgrounds in clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy, and social work. This rich mix of perspectives helps create a vibrant learning environment where everyone can thrive.

“StarVista’s training program consists of a knowledgeable and passionate team, dedicated to offering young therapists comprehensive support.”

 -Nicole K.

At StarVista, trainees and interns have the chance to develop their cultural, ethical, and clinical skills while working with individuals of all ages in a multicultural and multidisciplinary community-based setting. It’s an incredible opportunity to build one’s competence and confidence in assessment and treatment of mental health challenges.

“I like the StarVista training program because everyone I met during the interview process and in the group/individual supervision, have been welcoming and helpful in every way!”

-Amy W.

Each trainee and intern receive personalized guidance with one hour of individual supervision and two hours of group supervision every week, provided by our team of licensed psychologists, LMFTs, and LCSWs. This supportive structure ensures they have the mentorship and resources to succeed.

“I chose StarVista because of its great reputation in training trainees. StarVista not only provided me with amazing training, but after I graduated, they offered me a job, and I am happily working part-time here. Thanks to StarVista, I continue to grow and polish my skills as a clinician while getting paid. Thank you so much, StarVista!”

-Alma R.

Together, we are making a lasting impact on San Mateo County!
