A Message From Our CEO | January 2024

A Message From Our CEO | January 2024

blog, News

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!  As we kick off 2024, I’d like to take a moment to share my appreciation for you, our incredible StarVista supporters, funders, donors, Visionaries, partners, sponsors, Board of Directors, staff, interns, and volunteers, for continuing to help us make a lasting impact on the mental health and wellness in San Mateo County.

Thanks to you, our clients had an amazing holiday season. First, we kicked off the season with our annual gift drive, Randy’s Gift Drive, which met its goal of delivering gifts to 150 clients and families. These gifts brightened holiday spirits and delivered hope to families in need. A big thank you to our gift drive donors for inspiring hope this holiday season.

To our partners at Macy’s Hillsdale, thank you for changing lives with us. Not only did Macy’s help us reach our fundraising goal this year with our Changing Lives Annual Event, but they also gave 30 StarVista clients a private shopping experience at their store. Clients received $50 gift cards to buy clothing, toys, houseware, and more. One client shared, “My husband and I were excited; we had a nice welcoming and coffee. We gave our [gift] cards to my daughter. We enjoyed watching her choosing her own clothes and the toys she wanted. Her dream came true.” Thank you, Macy’s, for strengthening our communities this holiday season.

Last, but certainly not least, we shared Michael’s story for this year’s Holiday Campaign. Before Daybreak, Michael was a youth in need of housing. He lacked proper housing security – with big hopes and dreams to find housing stability and a fulfilling career path. Through our strength-based program, Michael not only had a place to live, but he also received our unwavering support in reaching his occupational and professional goals. Clients like Michael change their lives for the better everyday thanks to donors like you, who make our programs possible. Thank you for empowering individuals this holiday season.

There’s still time to donate to our Holiday Campaign! Help us prepare to serve 40,000 individuals of all ages in 2024 by making a gift here.

On behalf of our team here at StarVista, we wish you and your loved ones a healthy, happy New Year.

Warm Regards,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP
