1. A Message from Our CEO

February 2024

Dear Friends,

I hope this email finds you well.

With 2024 underway, we are looking forward to introducing new changes and improvements to enhance our services.

Before I share those exciting updates, I want to first thank our Visionaries, funders, sponsors, and supporters for attending Cheers for Changing Lives this month! Cheers for Changing Lives celebrates the success of our annual fundraiser, Changing Lives, and the impact our donors have on the mental health and wellness of our shared community. We are grateful to our incredible donors for their support, and we look forward to seeing you all again at Changing Lives in October! You can read the Cheers for Changing Lives recap here.

I am pleased to announce StarVista’s new program, Together For Families (TFF).

TFF is

  1. The merger of two previous StarVista programs – Child and Parent Services and Child and Family Resource Center
  2. Available to any family with a child 0-17 living in San Mateo County
  3. Offers community and school-based services that offer therapy, case management, parent education, and support to children and their parents/caregivers
You can learn more about the program here.

Some of you may remember a past event series we used to host every Spring called Navigating the Tides. I am grateful to share that this in-person panel discussion event is coming back this year in April thanks to our sponsor, SolMateo! Spring Into Transitions: Empowering teens to navigate change towards a healthier future will feature community speakers that will discuss how to support youth as they leave high school. More event details will be emailed soon.

Our incredible Development team has revamped our Discover StarVista Tours. A Discover StarVista Tour is a virtual presentation of our agency and programs. Bringing together people from all backgrounds, Discover StarVista Tours hosts community leaders and do good-ers for an in-depth look at our programs and exclusive program updates from our staff. If you are interested in attending our next tour, please email [email protected].

Last, but certainly not least, we are grateful to partner again with San Mateo PAL and Stride for Awareness to host Mental Health Matters: A 5K Run/Walk and Wellness Fair taking place on May 18 at Ryder Park in San Mateo. I hope you can join us! Learn more and register here.

We’re just getting started here at StarVista, and I can’t wait to share more exciting updates with you next month.

Warm Regards,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP

CEO
