A Message From Our CEO – January 2021

A Message From Our CEO – January 2021

blog, News

Dear Friends,

I hope you all are in good health and spirits as we welcome a new year. 2021 is an exciting time for our agency, as we are celebrating anniversaries, milestones, and new arrivals. This year, StarVista is celebrating 55 years of service in San Mateo County! For 55 years, StarVista has been empowering individuals, inspiring hope, and strengthening communities. Our work wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our incredible funders, donors, supporters, staff, interns, and volunteers. I want to express my deepest appreciation to each of you.

We are celebrating our 55th anniversary all year long with new blog posts, social media campaigns, and website updates! Visit our 55th anniversary webpage here. We will also be celebrating our 55th on our newly launched YouTube series, The StarVista Channel, where we will be sharing updates and conversations with the StarVista community. See the official trailer here.

I am absolutely delighted to welcome a new member to the StarVista family, Dr. Daryl Tilghman! Dr. Tilghman is the new Director of our Youth Empowerment Services Department. Dr. Tilghman will provide leadership, oversight, and support to our incredible teams at Daybreak, Your House South, Transitional Youth Services, GIRLS, and Institutions Programs. We are grateful to have him join us. Learn more about Dr. Tilghman in our Q&A blog post here.

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, our top priority remains the health and safety of our staff, clients, partners, and the community at large, and to live up to our responsibility to support our communities, those who are vulnerable, and the healthcare providers who are on the front lines of this pandemic. To do our part as an agency to protect staff, and those in the community we care for, we have refined our COVID-19 protocols and guidelines to assist in navigating COVID-19 related occurrences and have implemented a variety of viral mitigation procedures agency-wide at all StarVista sites.

Lastly, I would like to give a big thank you to everyone that donated to our Holiday Campaign. Your generosity transforms the lives of children, youth, adults, and families in our shared community. If you haven’t had the chance to donate, there is still time. Click here to donate. Campaign ends January 31.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy new year!

Sincerely,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP

CEO
