Dear Friends,
StarVista is proud to announce that we are taking part in the groundbreaking global generosity movement, #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity, set to take place today May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
We are also excited to announce that we have partnered with the Peery Foundation to double your impact up to $50,000. To double your impact, give online towards StarVista’s Giving Tuesday Campaign! You can give at www.star-vista.org/gtnow.
At StarVista we are committed to providing you with updates as we go through this COVID-19 pandemic together. As you may have heard the shelter-in-place orders will extend through May 31 in San Mateo County, while some restrictions are eased and tools to strengthen the containment of COVID-19 are put into place.
StarVista acknowledges those in our community affected by illness, quarantines, school closures, layoffs, furloughs, and other hardships. We are ready to help however we can, and I am confident we will remain nimble in our daily response to the extraordinary events now facing us.
The need for mental health services in our community has always been there. During May, the month of Mental Health Awareness and everyday StarVista joins the fight to reduce the stigma around mental health by raising awareness and helping those in need. Each year we provide support, educate the public, and inspire others. The economic impact of COVID-19 has increased that need beyond what we could have imagined. Many are looking to StarVista for assistance, leadership, and comfort.
We want to reaffirm our message that we are here. While most of our 30 programs have switched to a Telehealth model, StarVista’s 24/7 programs are still operating in person, including our residential programs for homeless youth and our First Chance Sobering Station.
At StarVista, there is no higher priority than the safety of our volunteers, staff, and the community we serve. Since the onset of COVID-19, we have taken extra precautions, including increased cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities. We are following the guidance of the CDC, and local and state health agencies.
I wish you and all those dear to you good health, strength, and fortitude as we weather the storm and come out of it stronger than we came into it.
Again, please visit www.star-vista.org/gtnow to double your impact this Giving Tuesday Now.
Sincerely,
Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP
