Dear Friends,

Happy National Volunteer Week! During this COVID-19 crisis, it has become even more important to express how much we care about our collective well-being by showing compassion and kindness.  

During National Volunteer Week, I wanted to take some time to recognize and thank our volunteers who devote their time in support of our mission. We truly value your compassion for our clients and the community.  

I also want to thank our donors and everyone who supports StarVista. 

I am truly inspired by the acts of generosity I’ve seen in our community as we continue to support one another during this unprecedented time. Your collective efforts and acts of kindness strengthen our community ties. For that, I would like to thank you. Know that your support is changing lives every day. 

I also wanted to share the following examples as to how you and the community has responded to our emerging needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your contributions have made a positive lasting impact on the lives of your neighbors. 

• With help from our social media community, StarVista was able to provide a foster child a Chromebook so that they can do their schoolwork while learning from home. We would like to thank the individual who donated the Chromebook for helping us support our community during these times. Click here to read the story. 
  

• A very special thanks to Officer Jon Marco Urrere-Serratio from the Burlingame Police Department for helping connect a community member in need to our First Chance program, where they were able to find shelter and services. Click here to read the story.

• Our 24/7 Residential Youth Housing program, Your House South, was gifted a brand-new refrigerator by Airport Home Appliance after it broke down shortly after the shelter-in-place order was given. Click here to read the story.

• We are so grateful for Coastal Spirits Distillery, Devil’s Canyon Brewery, Seven Stills Brewery & Distillery, Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits, and the East Bay Hand Sanitizer Fund for supplying our programs with hand sanitizer and other COVID supplies and for the continued work they are doing for local communities. Click here to read the story.   

• Our crisis line volunteers are handling suicide hotline calls from their own homes. We value their continued support for the community and adapting to this challenging time.

   

These are just some ways you have helped StarVista carry out its mission of helping children, youth, adults, and families navigate life’s challenges by empowering individuals, inspiring hope, and strengthening our communities, in this incredible time of need. Thank you.
