FIRST CHANCE SERVICES

FIRST CHANCE SOBERING STATION

The Sobering Station is a 24-hour program that serves as an alternative to jail for persons arrested for driving under the influence or public intoxication. This program operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. While clients are recovering from their intoxication, counselors complete assessments that can identify substance abuse problems and interact with the clients in an open, non-judgmental, and empathetic manner.

First Chance also welcomes individuals in a crisis or non-crisis situation that are not under the influence. These individuals will receive respite, an empathetic intervention, and needed referrals.

FIRST CHANCE DETOX

First Chance Detox is a 4-bed facility serving clients in all of San Mateo County with substance use disorders who are actively withdrawing from the effects of alcohol or other drugs. When admitted to First Chance Detox, clients are allowed to detox in the comfort of our facility for approximately 3-7 days. Clients may remain longer if their condition requires. Clients are closely monitored by our trained staff and receive medical and mental health referrals as needed.

Our facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

First Chance Detox requires clients to complete a phone screening with us and receive a medical clearance from San Mateo Medical Center before admittance.
