StarVista to Appear on The Balancing Act Local Edition
Nonprofit’s Daybreak Transitional Housing Program will be featured on local news channel
December 2, 2024
San Carlos, CA – StarVista, a nonprofit that delivers high-impact services through counseling, case management, skill development, and crisis prevention to San Mateo County residents, will have it’s Daybreak program featured on The Balancing Act Local Edition on live cable network starting December 15.
This premiere comes just weeks after Daybreak’s securing of a prestigious five-year Transitional Living Program (TLP) grant for $1.25M starting in FY2024, awarded by The Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) program. TLP funding supports long-term residential services for older homeless youth, ages 16 to 22, providing them a safe haven and a fresh start. StarVista has risen above and beyond, becoming one of just 75 grantees nationwide to receive this grant. Even more impressive, StarVista is one of only eight chosen nonprofits in California and the sole Bay Area recipient.
The airtimes are as follows:
Sun 12/15/24 1:30pm – KPYX-INDEPENDENT (Channel 44)
Sun 12/22/24 3:00pm – KRON-MyNetwork (Channel 4)
“DayBreak and Star Vista are community staples in San Mateo County,” shares Michael McBride, a previous Daybreak client. “I would not be here without their support and am honored to be able to share my story about how this program impacted my life.”
The Balancing Act®, celebrating over 20 years, is America’s premier morning show that fits perfectly into the modern woman’s busy lifestyle, delivering essential information and sensible solutions in an entertaining, fast-paced format.
Daybreak is a housing and independent living skills training program for homeless youth ages 16-21 that has been in operation for over 30 years in San Mateo County. StarVista’s Daybreak program provides homeless youth with the skills and resources they need to live on their own. Participants receive training in obtaining employment, money management, locating and renting housing, and more. We continue to actively address inequities by developing, adapting, and expanding the delivery of our services to meet emerging needs.
