StarVista’s Daybreak program shines in TV spot

StarVista is honored to have our transitional housing program, Daybreak, featured on The Balancing Act Local Edition. Daybreak is a unique program in San Mateo County that offers youth ages 16-21 housing and independent living skills training.

Daybreak inspires hope for many of its clients by providing them with the opportunity to focus on their growth and persuing their dreams.

“Daybreak welcomed me with open arms, taught me how to live independently (financially, domestically, psychologically), helped me save money, and assisted me with securing my first apartment. I have lived independently ever since, and have thrived. With the confidence and knowledge I gained at Daybreak, I decided to pursue the education that I had to abandon.” – Marilyn Thomas, Ph.D., MPH

“While at Daybreak, I received counseling, living skills, budgeting, resume assistance and support in a home environment. I was able to focus on going to college and save money from my part time jobs. As I prepared to graduate from Daybreak, the staff provided resources and helped me find a room to rent and provided support for an additional year while I adjusted to living on my own. This was key to my success in laying my foundation as a responsible adult. I am still in contact with my counselor from Daybreak, Barbara Walker from over 25 years ago. That is the impact of Daybreak. Life long connections. Daybreak is a part of my heart forever.” – Sabrina Thompson, StarVista Visionary
