StarVista Spotlight | Shining Stars

Fall 2023 Cohort of StarVista’s Youth Health Ambassador Program (HAP-Y)

Congratulations to Isabella and Isaac from Capuchino High School, Pavitra from Hillsdale High, and Annika from Aragon High for successfully completing the Fall 2023 Cohort of StarVista’s Youth Health Ambassador Program (HAP-Y)!

During their time at the HAP-Y program, these amazing students received in-depth training on mental wellness common challenges, suicide signs and risks, prevention strategies, and how to access mental health services.

They’re now trained Health Ambassadors empowering our community, spreading awareness, and navigating people towards mental health resources when needed.

Not only is their commitment acknowledged with community service or internship hours but also a completion bonus of $700!

We’re so proud of their dedication to enhancing the health of our community. Congratulations, stars!

Being a part of StarVista’s HAP-Y program is an enriching experience, equipping our youth aged 16-24 with essential knowledge and strategies on mental wellness, suicide prevention, and access to mental health services.

StarVista’s Youth Health Ambassador Program (HAP-Y) is a program of our Youth and Community Empowerment Services. Learn more about StarVista’s Youth Health Ambassador Program (HAP-Y): https://star-vista.org/programs/hap-y/

Youth and Community Empowerment Services

Director: Michelle Woo

StarVista’s Youth and Community Empowerment Services ensure that San Mateo County youth feel supported as they encounter life’s challenges like unstable housing, mental health issues, navigating the foster care system, or accessing LGBTQ-centered care, empowering them to build the lives they envision.

During the last fiscal year, StarVista’s Daybreak program served 15 teens for a combined stay of over 2,900 nights.
