What Brought Aracely Vasquez to StarVista? What Keeps them at StarVista?

StarVista is celebrating 55 Years of Service by highlighting some of our incredible staff members! All year long, we are interviewing staff about how they discovered StarVista, and why they continue to stay with the agency.

What is your name and role at StarVista?

My name is Aracely Vasquez, I am the Differential Response (DR) Program Coordinator.

What year did you join the agency?

January 1, 2006.

What brought you to StarVista?

I was working under an extra help position as case manager with Differential Response for Children and Family Services with the county of San Mateo from March 2005 to December 2005. A Request for Proposal (RFP) was put out and StarVista was granted the contract and they hired me on to continue with the program.

What is one of your most memorable moments working at StarVista?

Christmas 2009 our program manager at the time offered to dress up Santa Claus and we had some case managers dress up as elves and we delivered Christmas gifts to our clients and the smiles on the kids’ faces were priceless. Something I will never forget.

Are there any big project(s) that you are most proud of?

In all honesty, I am extremely proud of DR and all it has accomplished since I started with the program. It has grown so much and has helped so many children and families overcome life challenges, and to see the continued work and how much DR continues to contribute to the communities we serve, especially during these challenging times, makes me overly proud of the work we do.

What keeps you at StarVista?

My team and the clients we serve. This is hard work, and I could not do this without the amazing individuals I get to work with. I have a lot of respect for each and everyone of them. The clients that have allowed me in their homes and have shared their lives with me, as traumatic as it may be, I am forever grateful and honored.
