StarVista – The Meaning Behind the Name
Before 2011, StarVista was known as Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YFES). The name YFES represented the services and initiatives of its programs that empowered youth, families, and individuals to overcome challenges through counseling, education, and residential services.
YFES underwent a complete rebrand in 2011 (see the history of StarVista), changing our name from Youth and Family Enrichment Services to StarVista, to better encompass the scope and outcomes of our services, and reaffirm our commitment to the communities we serve.
“Star” for representing trust, direction, guidance, hope, and optimism. We help tens of thousands of people in our community each year through over 30 counseling, crisis prevention, youth housing, and outreach programs. We believe that everyone has the power to change their life.
“Vista” for sight, perspective, view “not just of where you have been, but where you are going.” In Spanish, “vista” means “view.” From substance abuse and thoughts of suicide to domestic traumas and homelessness, we help people persevere and transform some of life’s toughest situations into personal victories.
