Peery Foundation and StarVista
In celebration of StarVista’s 55th Anniversary, we want to recognize one of our longstanding supporters, the Peery Foundation.
With a passion for strengthening youth and families to build lives of dignity and self-reliance, the Peery Foundation has supported StarVista’s School-Based program for over 7 years. This program provides case management and mental health counseling to help students improve aspects of their lives that may lead to enhanced school performance and increased learning engagement. Funding from the Peery Foundation has helped StarVista place clinicians in schools to collaborate closely with school administrators and educators to identify students who would benefit from therapeutic services.
Since 2014, the Peery Foundation has supported StarVista’s School-Based program and continued to look for other ways they could support our staff and clients. In 2017, we partnered with the Peery Foundation in a 3-year Pilot Program that invested in the mental health and wellbeing of staff. Through this program StarVista was able to design mental health and wellbeing initiatives for staff, which were tailored to our organization. The Peery Foundation has also supported our staff with staff support grants to help address the high cost of living for staff working at nonprofits serving the Bay Area (e.g., bus passes or gas cards).
Further, they have provided student and family support grants to help meet the basic necessities and safety net services our clients need as they arise (e.g., more healthy snacks for school programs, hygiene supplies, bus passes, etc.). The Peery Foundation has utilized a grantee-centric approach and worked as allies and advocates for StarVista.
These are only a few of examples of how the Peery Foundation has been a passionate and responsive partner for over 7 years. We want to thank the Peery Foundation for their partnership and all that they do for our community!
