A Message From Our CEO - July 2021

A Message From Our CEO – November 2021

blog, News

Dear Friends,

I hope you are all well.

As we welcome November, a time most recognized for gratitude, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for you, our incredible supporters. StarVista is a diverse organization filled with passionate staff, interns, volunteers, donors, funders, and supporters, all fulfilling our mission to help all ages and stages through life’s challenges. For over 55 years, we’ve been able to meet the mental health needs of our shared community and fill the equity gaps that exist in San Mateo County. On behalf of everyone here at StarVista and the clients we serve, thank you.

First off, I am delighted to share that we will hire a newly designed position of Chief Clinical Officer. This position will supervise our department directors and the training director who oversee 30 programs focused on early childhood mental health and early childhood mental health consultation, youth residential services, counseling, behavioral health, and crisis intervention, as well as the intern training program. Working in collaboration with this team, they will provide the overarching clinical vision for all programs and hold the operational responsibility for them. I’m thrilled to welcome a new leader who will provide leadership and help lead our teams to the next level of achievement in support of our goals and our mission. View the job description here.

I am also excited to share that we are hosting our annual gift drive throughout the months of November and December! Randy’s Gift Drive, a StarVista holiday tradition, connects generosity to joy by delivering gifts to over 300 clients and their families throughout the holiday season. We continue to pay special attention to the health and safety of our clients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. For their safety and well-being, we will only be collecting monetary donations to purchase gift cards for clients this year. Please, help us continue our tradition of making wishes come true by donating today! Give a gift here.

Lastly, I invite you to help us kick off the season of giving by becoming a StarVista Visionary on #VisionaryTuesday! We are transforming #GivingTuesday, a global day of generosity taking place on November 30, into #VisionaryTuesday, a day to celebrate our newest community of supporters, take action to support mental health, and work together to fill the equity gaps that exist in our local community.

Anyone can become a StarVista Visionary by making an annual contribution of at least $1,000 each year, for at least 5 years. On November 30, we invite you to become part of the legacy of StarVista Visionaries and transform your holiday gift into a 5-year pledge for #VisionaryTuesday! Keep an eye on your inbox and follow us on social media @StarVistaSMC for more details on how to participate.

Wishing everyone warmth and safety.

Sincerely,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP
CEO
