Peery Foundation and StarVista

In celebration of StarVista’s 55th Anniversary, we want to recognize one of our longstanding supporters, the Peery Foundation.

What Brought Hilary Schlossman to StarVista? What Keeps them at StarVista?

StarVista is celebrating 55 Years of Service by highlighting some of our incredible staff members! All year long, we are interviewing staff about how they discovered StarVista, and why they continue to stay with the agency.

What is your name and role at StarVista?

My name is Hilary Schlossman and I am a consultant and supervisor with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program (ECMHC).

What year did you join the agency?

I joined StarVista in 2012.

What brought you to StarVista?

The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program was originally a program of Parents Place. We partnered with StarVista (previously Youth and Family Enrichment Services) for many years and routinely referred clients for clinical services. Because of this, our program was a suitable fit for the Early Childhood Department and we merged with StarVista in July of 2012.

What is one of your most memorable moments working at StarVista?

There are too many memorable moments to count, many of which took place during our case/review administrative meetings. This is a time when we return from the field to “sit together” and “think together” and reflect on our work. It is also a time when we gather to decompress, for laughter, tears, camaraderie, support and lots of opportunity for learning, personal growth and professional development.

Are there any big project(s) that you are most proud of?

One of the projects that I really enjoyed was gathering community folks in education, home visiting, mental health, child-care providers and other professionals for a teen parent round table event to address collaboration and consider ways to strengthen communication in our efforts to support young parents.

What keeps you at StarVista?

Hands down, my ECMHC colleagues have kept me at StarVista. They are an amazing team that has grown and changed over the years but has always sustained me. They have been a tremendous support and an absolute pleasure to work with all these years!
