A Message From Our CEO – February 2021

A Message From Our CEO – February 2021

blog, News

Dear Friends,

I hope you all are well and in good health. This month, StarVista celebrated Black History Month by sharing resources for the community on our website here and honoring historical African American figures on our social media channels. Black History Month, and every month, is a time to celebrate the contributions and achievements of the African American community. Here at StarVista, we acknowledge the importance of culture and heritage in our shared communities and in our practices as an agency.

Once again, I am excited to share StarVista is celebrating 55 Years of Service this year! We continue to update our 55th anniversary webpage with exciting, fun, and historical content. Some new additions to our webpage include our program map that highlights our program locations throughout San Mateo County, and a new blog post that shares how StarVista got its name. You can see both these items on the 55th Anniversary webpage here.

This month, I joined our Director of Fund Development and Marketing, Lea Berhane, on our agency’s new YouTube series, The StarVista Channel. Lea and I shared a great conversation about StarVista 55th anniversary, agency updates, and more. I am very excited about this opportunity to highlight the people and programs behind our incredible agency in a fun, new way. You can view my interview with Lea here.

Lastly, I am grateful to share that our Crisis Center will be launching a new website for its program on March 1, 2021. In addition, our Crisis Center will be transitioning its current teen chat/online support website (www.onyourmind.net) to the new website. Our program is doing this to improve the user experience and provide a dedicated space to share program services, updates, resources, and more. Our 24/7 Crisis Hotline 650-579-0350 will continue to remain fully functional during this transition. Our teen chat will remain accessible on the www.onyourmind.net website till March 1, 2021. On March 1, 2021, the teen chat will then be accessible on the new website.

Our agency will share the full details (including the new website URL) about this launch via newsletter, website, and social media on March 1, 2021. Stay tuned. If you have any questions, please reach out to Zena Andreani, Program Manager, at [email protected]g.

Wishing you continued health and safety.

Sincerely,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP

CEO
