StarVista to Host Annual “Changing Lives” Fundraising Event

Proceeds Will Benefit the Organization’s County-Wide Continuum of Care Initiative for Mental Health and Crisis Support

San Bruno, CA, October 5, 2023 – San Mateo County residents once again have the opportunity to uplift their county’s most vulnerable residents at StarVista’s biggest yearly fundraiser – Changing Lives. The event will take place on Thursday, October 12th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in The Farallon Room at Skyline College. Wine and small bites will be served as guests hear inspiring stories of transformation from StarVista clients, set to the backdrop of musical entertainment by DJ Goyo.

As a non-profit organization dedicated to impacting lives locally, StarVista believes that within each individual lies boundless potential, waiting to be unlocked with the right guidance and support. Whether individuals are facing struggles of substance abuse, battling thoughts of suicide, enduring family violence, or grappling with homelessness, StarVista is committed to assisting people of all ages and backgrounds to achieve their goals.

According to the event’s organizers, this year’s Changing Lives fundraiser marks a significant difference in the organization’s approach as they pioneer the creation of an ideal continuum of care model in San Mateo County. The framework was developed to ensure that every community member has “somewhere to go, someone to respond, and someone to call in times of need.”

CEO of StarVista, Dr. Sara Larios Mitchell, MACP, stressed the importance of the event, stating in her letter to donors that, “This evening’s program will give you an in-depth look at how our
nearly 30 counseling, case management, skill development, and crisis prevention programs empower individuals, inspire hope, and strengthen communities across San Mateo County. Clients are able to change their lives for the better through our programs.”

Congressman Kevin Mullin, who will be a speaker at the event, seconded the organization’s contributions to the community, saying, “As the rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental
health issues increase, dedicated professional staff [from StarVista] continue to offer unparalleled prevention, early intervention, education, and counseling services to thousands of clients each year.”

To ensure ongoing support for the nearly 40,000 individuals who rely on StarVista services annually, CEO Dr. Mitchell invites attendees and supporters to become StarVista Visionaries by pledging $1,000+ each yearly for 5 years, or $84 a month–a contribution the CEO says will help ensure StarVista’s sustainability for the long term.

Join StarVista at Changing Lives 2023 and be a part of the journey towards creating a more compassionate and supportive community for all. To RSVP for the event and to learn about the different ways to get involved, visit star-vista.org/changing-lives.
