StarVista Hosts Successful Gift Drive
Over 150 clients receive gifts this holiday season thanks to StarVista donors and partners.
San Carlos, CA – StarVista, a nonprofit that delivers high-impact services through counseling, case management, skill development, and crisis prevention to San Mateo County residents, gifted over 150 toys, gift cards, household essentials, games, and more to underserved clients of their programs this holiday season.
Titled “Randy’s Gift Drive,” StarVista’s yearly gift initiative establishes connection between generosity and joy by delivering donated gifts from StarVista donors and community partners to the organization’s clients. Clients who receive these gifts are part of our mental health and wellness programs, including Daybreak, San Mateo County Pride Center, Child and Parent Services, and Insights.
This year, donors had the opportunity to make a monetary donation online or provide gifts at designated gift drive partner locations: Macy’s Hillsdale, Starbucks San Carlos Ave, and the San Carlos Public Library. Thanks to our donors, we surpassed our gift drive goal!
A college student facing financial challenges, identified as a StarVista “Gift recipient,” shared their struggle as a low-income individual studying architecture. Affordable housing is a major concern, making it difficult for them to balance school and work. Despite these challenges, they exhibit remarkable resilience and resourcefulness. Thankfully, they have a supportive community of friends and are receiving case management and mental health support from StarVista.
StarVista’s gift drive honors our late coworker and friend, Durand “Randy” Clark Yano. Randy launched StarVista’s first ever Holiday Gift Drive over a decade ago, and it has grown to become a favorite tradition amongst staff and clients. We are grateful to continue this holiday tradition and provide hope to those we assist not only during the holidays but also year-round.
