StarVista Responds to Urgent COVID-19 Need with Participation in #GivingTuesdayNow, a New Global Day of Giving and Unity
StarVista Joins The Global Movement #GivingTuesdayNow
San Carlos, CA April 29, 2020 – StarVista, a nonprofit that delivers high impact services through counseling, skill development, and crisis prevention to children, youth, adults, and families to San Mateo County residents, is participating in this year’s #GivingTuesdayNow. #GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. StarVista is happy to announce that they have partnered with the Peery Foundation to double your impact up to $50,000 during their #GivingTuesdayNow campaign.
For more than 50 years, StarVista has been empowering people of every age and life stage in San Mateo County with innovative, proven programs that enable prevention, change, and perseverance. They help tens of thousands of people in our community each year through over 30 counseling, crisis prevention, youth housing, and outreach programs. As the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order continues in San Mateo County, StarVista also continues to provide its services.
“At StarVista, there is no higher priority than the safety of our volunteers, staff, and the community we serve. Since the onset of COVID-19, we have taken extra precautions, including increased cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities,” says Sara Larios Mitchell, CEO, StarVista.
“We are committed to providing services to our most vulnerable clients throughout this time,” says Sara Larios Mitchell, CEO, StarVista, “While most of our 30 programs have switched to a Telehealth model, StarVista’s 24/7 programs are still operating in person, including our residential programs for homeless youth and our First Chance Sobering Station. At these facilities, StarVista’s staff continue to need protective gear such as masks, sanitizers, and bleach, especially as there continues to be an increase in clients.”
