CWCRT Community Update from San Mateo PD

March 2022

StarVista’s Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team in partnership with the San Mateo Police Department.

StarVista’s Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team (CWCRT) Pilot Program, in partnership with San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and 4 police departments: San Mateo, Daly City, South San Francisco, and Redwood City, is designed to improve law enforcement response to community members experiencing a mental health crisis.

In StarVista’s CWCRT pilot program, a StarVista mental health clinician is partnered with each participating police department to respond to incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health crises.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, The City of San Mateo hosted a Real Talk San Mateo episode where the community joined for an update on this initiative. The panel included representation from the San Mateo Police Department, StarVista, San Mateo County Health, County of San Mateo – Government, StarVista, and LifeMoves. The guest speakers from StarVista included Daryl Tilghman, Ph.D., Associate Department Director at StarVista’s Youth Empowerment Services, and Briana Fair, ACSW, StarVista Crisis Response Clinician.

We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration between officers and our clinicians!
