Donors like You Support Clients like Mark in Navigating Life’s Challenges

Before Bringing Families Home, Mark and his daughters were living in a vehicle after the sudden loss of his wife and their housing. Thanks to our program, Mark was able to secure housing for him and his family along with necessary mental health support from our team. We continue to work closely with Mark to ensure that he and his family can navigate their grief, work-life balance, and mental health and wellness challenges.

A Letter from Our Chief Executive Officer

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your continued generosity. Your support helps nearly 40,000 individuals of all ages and stages navigate life’s challenges and access the resources they need to build resiliency.

At StarVista, we’re always looking for innovative ways to address a wide range of mental health and wellness needs. This year, we’re excited to introduce our new program, Bringing Families Home. This program takes a holistic approach to tackle both immediate and long-term housing needs. It’s part of StarVista’s Differential Response Program and is designed to help families at risk of homelessness who are working with San Mateo County’s Children and Family Services to maintain stable housing. Since we started, we’ve already supported over 35 clients.

Thanks to your support, programs like these can help individuals like Mark access critical support in navigating housing insecurity, not only for himself, but for his family as well. With the support from our new program, Mark and his three daughters were able to escape the unpredictability of living out of a vehicle and entered safe and secure housing. They also received necessary mental health support to help them navigate this challenging time.

San Mateo County’s One Day Homeless Count reported over 2,100 individuals experiencing homelessness in our community. In addition, San Mateo County schools report over 2,000 additional youth are experiencing housing insecurity, relying on couch surfing or staying with friends to remain sheltered. You can make all the difference right now by making a gift to our organization or becoming a Visionary this holiday season. Together, we can address housing insecurity and support families in securing housing so they may thrive.

With gratitude,

Sara Larios Mitchell, Ph.D., MACP

CEO

From everyone at StarVista and the children, youth, adults and families we serve, happy holidays and thank you for your support!
